Fostering

I have a deep love for dogs and am excited to begin my journey of fostering. I am currently a foster for a rescue in Mexico, called, A Dogs New Life. At this rescue they take in abandoned, surrendered and street dogs without discrimination and do exceptional work. They are a rescue that is lovely and easy to deal with while truly understanding each of their dogs.

Darwin

Darwin came from a life of severe abuse and ended up in the care of A Dogs New Life. Darwin was adopted but after a month, the adopter decided that Darwin was no longer suitable in her home. Reports of stealing and destroying everything, nipping, biting, resource guarding, dog reactivity and overall just out of control. I agreed to take on this sweet pup and see what we could accomplish together! Right away, a muzzle was put on and he was introduced to ‘place’.

It did not take Darwin long to settle and become a new dog with structure and rules. I personally did not see any of these reported behaviours aside from some minor reactivity and needing to learn neutrality around dogs. His life with me was quite structured and all freedom was earned as I absolutely could see how he could be out of control and exhibit bad behaviours. Darwin needed assistance in learning how to regulate and learn respectful social skills. He made some amazing progress in the few short weeks he was with me and we decided he was most suited to a home with female dogs only and someone who will take it slow with him.
